Well, the openings are over.
Friday night was the Night Moves opening with the four ink mixed media pieces from my Yellow Moon series in it. This was a submission show…they wanted all eight pieces of the series, but I did not have enough time to get them all framed. I got to the opening a little late (the weather was bad again), but they said they had a very good crowd earlier. It was a good show..very interesting, and I liked where my pieces were hanging.
This afternoon I went to St Augustine to the openings of the Tactile Show and the Black and White Show. The weather is beautiful today…and there was a very large crowd there. This is what happened….of the black and white pieces the one that I entered as Untitled got in the show. Untitled because I couldn’t think of a title (it should have been Pining for the Moon). Remember how I told you that I was not sure about the mixed media Connections piece…I did not feel like it was finished…and I really wanted to add color too. Well, I should have gone with my instincts..it was juried out. So I brought it home with me and I will go back into it now and do what I really wanted…add COLOR!!
The Journey painting (acrylic) did get into the Tactile show…and it won a prize.
So there you go…three different shows…with different judges all well known and respected…so like I said it is all subjective and you never know. A while back a teacher and very succesful artist gave me this advice…to be an artist means hard work and more hard work …and you must have thick skin. That was sage advice.
If you want to see the pieces they are all on earlier postings, including The Yellow Moon series.
I try to write more tomorrow…though it is to be a painting day (on with the hard work).
Until tomorrow then…
