Light Within the Thorns (acrylic on canvas 24″ x 32″)
Truth and roses have thorns about them. ~Henry David Thoreau
Hello dear hearts…I hope all is good in your worlds. This will be brief as I really don’t have much to say. I am working through some things right now, and this quote and painting seemed to fit the mood.
The subject is a little antique bottle I found in the attic of the 1880 house we are renovating. Hmmm….I seem to feel a connection to discarded and wild things…like left behind antique bottles and wild roses. :) As I have said before:
~if I were to be a flower, ’tis a wild rose I would be.
I hope to get around to read your posts soon.
Until then…keep seeking the light and I will do the same.
Good energy to all,
~gypsy-he♥rt

Evening Dearest Gypsy-Heart~
WOW….you wild rose woman, you!!!!
L-O-V-E this!!!!!
The red is SO beautiful and I can feel the warmth of the LIGHT shining through the window.
There IS something so wonderful about disarded things. I feel a slight sadness for them, yet at the same time, feel the wonderfulness of them!
I love old cities with a lot of history to them. When I first moved back here, I would just walk the streets for hours, literally crying from the energy that eminated from the buildings. I could hear it say, “Please look at me…and NOTICE how old and yet, majestic and beautiful I still am.”
I think if I was a flower…I’d be a carnation. They seem to be a happy and simple little flower that lasts forever.
And I love they way they smell. Crispy clean!
Thank you for such a lovely post, my dear friend. It caused me to FEEL wonderful inside!
I’m so freaking GLAD I met you!
Sending you some positive energy to help you with what you are working on!
Blessings!

Great glass bottle. In fact very nice image. So emotional. I love your work, you know.
Love this work so much, I love the way you caught the light inside the bottle, it’s magic.
I hope you are well, and I am sending you pure whole heart love with this comment. :)
and shadows are surrounded by light. Good wishes for you, Gypsy,
Keep in mind you can work around some things. You don’t always have to go through.
Evidently, your painting is showing us the way to the light. Peace.
Love and light to You, Suz! I totally agree with Ron on this painting – love, love, LOVE the colours!
I’ll be thinking of You.
*lots of hugs*
Gypsy heart…
A thoughtful offering, One that speaks volumes both in images and words.
No matter how many times we get through it, it’s always waiting for us to ‘check’, to ‘make sure’. What to discard and what to keep.
Reaching for the light when parts of us have died and need to be shed.
The painting is wonderful, it captures a much deeper emotion for me…thanks for the share.
LOVE this!!!! The light and color in this just out of this world….no sense in trying to articulate. Just WOW.
Beautiful. Sending you hugs, and I hope all is well.
((( Gypsy Heart ))) I felt sad when I saw this picture…I hope this doesn’t mean you are going through a hard time. I guess in even the most beautiful of lives, there are those thorns…hope you are well. Namaste!
@ Ron~ Dear friend…thank you for all of your kind words! You are such a positive energy!!
Carnations are delicate and you are right they do smell clean…if crisp was a smell I would think of them too. :)
Discarded things do carry a certain sadness about them, and they also carry a mystery to them. I think both the sadness and the mystery are reasons that I am drawn to them.
If in any way I make you feel wonderful inside then this blog is worth it!!
I am glad I “met” you too!
@ Fox ~ I felt your positive energies, and I thank you for them. :)
Blessings to you too!
@ n..fauves~ Thank you, your words mean a lot to me. I feel the same about your work!
@ badkitty~ You are much too kind..thank you so much!
@ Barbara~ Yes…shadows surrounded by light! :)
Thank you for your good wishes…the same for you my friend!
@ wrjones~ Good sage advice…and I thank you for sharing it! :)
@ surfaceearth ~ Peace to you too my friend. It makes my heart smile if ’tis the light you see in this piece! :)
@ Anni ~ Thank you my dear. So pleased that you like the colors. I love these colors..they seem to end up in my pallet a lot.
Lots of *hugs* to you too!
@ Sorrow ~ I am happy that the piece speaks to you! :) From our “chats” I am not surprised. We have some connections..eh?
I like what you said about shedding! Thank you my friend.
@ Kalliope ~ Thank you for your sweet words dear one. I especially like the “out of this world” part for I think that is where I tend to dwell most of the time. :)
@ Moonbeam ~ So happy you liked the piece. I felt your hugs, and I thank you!! :)
@ Grace ~ Hello my sweet friend. I’ll tell you again how happy we are to have you back!
Oops…I’m sorry the piece made you feel sad. :( I can see how it could.
I hope ’tis the light, not the thorns, that is the dominant energy though. That would be my heart’s wish. :)
Namaste’ to you too!
((( Gypsy Heart ))) :) The light is beautiful, yes!!! I spent many minutes staring at the way it played through the glass.. And as an artist, I’m sure you know how each heart responds differently to each piece. I suppose it was my own feelings that day reflected in my comment? I was feeling a bit melocholy perhaps. Something about the pedals and the tilt of the little rose head…Anyway, the work is magnificent as always. xoxox
I’m still trying to figure out why the leaves are “reaching” one way and the flower is headed the other? (and the flower’s “shedding” is interesting as well…
It’s awfully intriguing… or am I reading too much into it?
But the light work through the bottle is amazing!
preacherman
@ “Preacherman” hee, hee. Thank you for leaving me such a kind note.
You aren’t reading too much into it. It is a narrative piece as most of mine are so ’tis all symbolic for me. Alas, I’ll leave it to you to decide what you see or feel! :)
Beautiful. I love the clarity of light in the glass. And the dark contrasts behind. One petal left, hanging on. What a visual feast to visit here.
