“In some mysterious way
woods have never seemed to me to be static things.
In physical terms, I move through them;
yet in metaphysical ones,
they seem to move through me.”
~John Fowles
~
Hello darlings, I hope all is good in your worlds. Have you had a moment to walk outside to tell winter goodbye? Touches of spring are in my world already. We are to have a week of little showers here and there, so I thought this little painting appropriate. :)
I painted this last spring from a series of photos I took one day after a rain. I may have posted it on here with one of the little paintings series, but I wanted to post it alone today. I have several reasons for wanting to do so. Soon it will be shipped to a new home in Canada leaving only prints behind, and I always have mixed feelings about such. I also wanted to post it to honor spring and the little showers that help her unfold.
I found so many beautiful quotes on the subject, but I kept coming back to this one. Fowle’s words resonate with my heart. As far back as my memory takes me, a connection to nature is there. Even during some of the difficulties of childhood, nature was there and alive for me …teaching, amazing, and comforting me. Somehow, I was no longer afraid or sad…it was as if the energies there did “move through me.” Does that make sense to you? Have you experienced the same?
Hmmm….do you suppose this is why I am an island dwelling hermit? Though I do not need thirty acres to experience the connection…in the past, one little tree has sufficed. So much I could say about it, but ’tis enough for today. The showers have ceased now so I think I’ll take Ringo, dog guru, out for a woodland walk…for I am certain there is much ”to learn” and some magical mysteries waiting for us!
I’ll leave you with another beautiful quote:
“Come forth into the light of things, let nature be your teacher”
~William Wordsworth
I so hope you find the time to take a walk, sit under a tree, or simply smell a flower. Just let the energy move through you, and if you listen closely you will hear the voice of Nature, God, Allah, Universe..or whatever name you chose.
Better yet, dear one look into a rain puddle, and in your reflection you will see the reflection of the Divine. :)
Well, ta ta for now….
I am off and into the light of things,
~gypsy-he♥rt

You always have such beautiful pictures and quotes! Yes, spring is here as well. It’s raining outside and I smile reading your post. There is such peace in being outdoors, isn’t there. I love looking out at my garden and even though I’m in suburbia I see a bluejay and a bunny in my backyard and a few plants beginning to bloom….
Picaboo! ;-)

Gypsy,
I see the reflection of the divine in your words. Of course I will be checking out the puddles as well. Thanks for the beautiful quotes. It is true for me as well that I find much peace in nature. I love the painting, thanks for sharing!
((( Gypsy Heart )))
Another thing we share in common – that connection with nature. Right now – at work – I have three living plants on my desk! LOL :) You are so right…whether it’s one small tree, a flower, or an entire meadow to walk in, there’s something so magical and life affirming about nature.
Your painting is so lovely! Is it like sending a child off to school???? I would imagine there would be mixed feelings about letting go of the original, but think of the bliss you’ve created for someone else!!!
hi Gypsy,
interesting that the word Rain has taken on a life of its own in Rainring – it’s come to mean something like the unconscious sympathy that brings measure, order and harmony to the psyche, as to the creation.
my favourite rain quote is…., to my amazement, two quotes that I’d somehow thrown together into one.
‘for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust’ (Matthew 5,45)
‘The quality of mercy is not strain’d,
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath.’ (Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice)
All those years, I thought the rain on the justa and unjust was part of the second one: weird!
Anyhow, I liked your little painting, and when you talk about your island it makes me think you must be so sorted: my patch of wild is no more than a dream, or even a fragment of a dream – so hug a tree for me, next time you’re out, would you?
Had to do a double take when I glanced again at the size! How did you get that much detail into something that’s almost the same size as the image on the page here? That’s pretty incredible! Maybe we should all try to spend some “island time” if stuff like this results! :)

Evening Dearest Gypsy-Heart~
As soon as I looked at this piece…I was transported to my time spent in Florida. I know this view ohhh so well!
Just beautiful, dear lady. And I know it’s acrylic, yet it almost looks like the texture of pastels. So soft and delicate!
Besides this beautiful piece you share with us…the energy of your words has touched me deeply…right in my HEART!
Because I too share your love, respect and appreciation of nature, Gypsy-Heart….so very much! And like you, I don’t need much nature to allow me to feel connected to it. My Sundays sitting in a city park, under a tree, feeding my fuzzy friends, the squirrels…is replenishment for my soul! I feel cleansed and renewed! It puts everything back into perspective for me.
However, I have loved the times that I’ve spent in the Pocono Mountains where nature is GRAND, like a magnificant oil painting! Where the night sky, looks like you could actually reach out and touch a star!
Don’t ya just LOVE nature???
As always, my wonderful Florida/Capricorn friend…I can’t thank you enough for the healing I always receive when I visit your sacred blog.
Thank you..and bless you!
Did you miss any tags? I lost count but I think you left out turnips.
I like this piece I think. I can’t see it well on my phone. I don’t know if I’m off the spam list or not.
Why don’t you pose for me? We could go shooting later. I’ll give you an imaginary diamond bracelet.
Inspiring post and lovely painting. I plan on getting out into the green today as well! :)
gypsy ~ a lovely teeny painting. I spent time Saturday visiting a lovely marsh and listening to the peepers while I took some photos. The marshy woods there reminds me so of your woods. It was true contemplative-mystery place. I’ll be posting a photo or two soon ~ I hope they capture the magic.
And yes, the woods always move through me. What a perfect quotation.
I hope you are not angry: I´ve stolen your title for my blog to take sharp on the photos I made yesterday in Paul´s sculpture-garden. – hope it fits for you.
I´ve forgotten: greetings from the Austrian woods!
To look at nature
And be with it
A tree, a flower
The wind and stream
Sun and Moon
Mountains and Ocean
Or just the Earth beneath
Is to loose the mind
Which merges and flows
Into the Universal Consciousness
When we get back to normality
We are a different being
From what we were
Just a moment ago.

Now that I’m seeing the piece on a regular sized screen it looks even better. Lovely painting.
ah, such talent! I was able to wander through some art galleries this last week and I was really drawn to those that had reflections and scenes of water. And some of the more artsy photos I took are close ups of tree trucks and water surface ripples, etc. love it!
Dear gypsy-heart!
The Lady of the lake made me see your blog. I like many of your pictures. Only the flowers in the vase are soooo sad. I have many ideas about still-life-picture, if you like, I´ll tell you. one you´ll find on my blog. That with the knife.
I like the intensive colours on your pictures.
Henry
Your work and words inspire, they really do. I’m glad I’ve come across such a talented artist, I hope to see more from you soon:)
I needed this post right now. I fell into too much time behind the computer today. Tomorrow — a walk!
Thanks. (And glad your painting has a new home, but I can understand the mixed feelings of letting it go. It’s lovely.)
very nice! I feel peace from this one. The spots of orange really make it work well!
This is a marvelous painting…I do enjoy the reflection and the colors of the natural world so present in this piece!
Take care,
I.
Gypsy Heart… I have a feeling we have met on another plane of existence… maybe in one of your beautiful paintings or in a dream… Your thoughts are eloquently matching your colors… Keep shining your light… it is a beacon for some…
*April*~ Thank you dear heart. Your beginnings of spring sounds wonderful! I so agree there is peace in being outdoors. :)
*Anni*~ I love how you used the piece. Thank you, I am honored that you wanted to use it! :)

Do check the puddles! I am not surprised that you too find nature as well.
So glad you liked the little painting. :)
Grace~ We do seem to have quite a few things in common don’t we! :)
How wonderful that you can have three plants on your desk…that is like a your own little garden!
so pleased you like the little woods. Very good analogy…it is like sending a child off to school. Except I usually never see them again…only prints or photos remain. I try to think of it as energy moving on to a new home!
94S~ How nice to hear from you! I love what you wrote…your two quotes thrown together. :)
Glad you liked the little painting. I hope you have parks near you so you can experience the woods. I will be happy to hug a tree for you my good friend!
Hello Preacherman ~ Yes, ’tis a little one. It is all in the paint brushes…little ones! :)

You should share those photos with us!
Thank you love!
Henry ~ Hello and I am so glad you came here from the dear lady of the lake!
I’m glad you liked some of the pieces. I’m sorry the rose in the vase made you feel sad..it did the same for some others too. :( I did not mean that to be so. I love all the stages of flowers, and that was the seed stage. Of course, I have my own symbolism in it..but I feel bad that it made some feel a sad energy. I do love wild roses!!
I took a peak at your blog and I loves your work! I like the intense colors in your work, and I will be back to visit!
Thank you for your kind words!
demitria ~ Hello…Thank you for your inspiring words!
I hope you will stop by for a visit again soon! :)
yb ~ OH that makes me so happy! I hope you did go for your walk!

Daz Cox ~ Hello and thank you…I am so happy you felt peace from the piece for that is my wish! :)
Little spots of orange (or red) always do…eh? I see you have a web site…I will be by to visit!
Ivan ~ So nice to see your words again! Yes, reflections and colors are so amazing when we look into them!
Thank you for leaving your kind note!
enreal ~ Hmmm, what an enchanting thought…very well could be! We will have to explore that a little more…eh?
Thank you so much for you sweet and inspiring words. I think what is here ’tis only a reflection of all the souls that come here. You are most certainly a light…I knew that from reading your comments…that is why I followed you home. :)
I love this painting. I’m glad it found a new home, but I know about your mixed feelings. Not because I’m a painter, but because my friend, Lea, is, and she’s shared those mixed feelings with me on many occasions. One of her rain paintings hangs above our desk, and I look up at it every day. It’s called “Night Rain” and you can take a look here:
http://www.leakelley.com/close-up%20html/NightRain.html
So…we can’t put links into comments, eh? I’ve never tried before, but it appears you’ll have to copy and paste.
I can’t recall, but I think you check her blog now and then. If not, take a break, and take a look. It’s a breath of fresh rain. (different address than above – that’s her website for her paintings):

Thanks for sharing your work with us, gypsy-heart. It always makes me smile – and I love the quotes – oh, and your sweet “send-offs”.
L.
Lovely painting. Reminds me of a walk in the woods. Beautiful!
Linda~ Thank you for visiting and for leaving such a sweet and encouraging note.
I did check out your friends site. I really liked it, and I plan to go back when I have more time. I’ve had too many irons in the fire lately (and too many fires going).
I keep you in my thoughts Linda, and I will continue to mention you when I light my candles!
You made my heart smile!
Kitchenette soul~ Hello, I appreciate your kind and inspiring words!
I am happy if you are reminded of a walk in the woods…that is what I so hoped the energy of the piece would evoke. :)
Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to leave a note.
Dear Gypsy-Heart, would you mind terribly if I use this painting of yours as inspiration for my next weeks’ photo for Friday Photo????
C ~ I have no problem with it…I so hope you will share what wonderful creative thing you do. :)
Keep creating!!
THANKS! I will keep creating! -”C”
