Come into the light
yeah, be the one you’re born to be
come into the light
wake up from your lonely sleep
the shadows can conceal what the heart longs to heal
come into the light…
~Alice Peacock singer (song: Who Am I)
This arcylic (24 X 32) was a fun quick study of glass bottles with lights and shadows. The bottles reminded me of people stepping forward from the crowd out of the shadows..can you imagine it? I thought the lyrics were a good fit…even the title of the song. :)
I hope all of you had a good week. I had a good one…but a very busy one! Soon, I’ll tell some of the “goings on” (as my Grandmother says)…sort of toads wild ride this week. hee, hee.
Well, enough from me tonight. I know this is short, but it is late and really storming here on Drayton Island. :O Besides, all of you are busy too, so no need for me to be long winded…right? I think I mentioned before that I will post twice a week for a while (more if I can). That will give all of us more time. I know some blogs post every day and that is wonderful, but I simply can’t right now. I finally realized I can only do what I can do. I know that sounds so unoriginal, but I don’t know how else to say it. :( I still hope to get around to see you most every day. If I can’t please know I am there in spirit, because I really do think all of you are just grand!! :)
May we all step into the light..our light from within (often hidden within our own shadows)…that is my prayer tonight!
My heart is filled with love for the whole world…

Ps I hope I can figure out our new format here on wordpress. I know it will be nice, but I am just a wee bit technically challenged (that’s an understatement!). I just starting mastering the old one. :O

Wonderful play of the light and glass. That’s hard to do, make something that was never alive at all, come to life in a painting. I’ve had a crazy busy week too…it’s hard to live and work and have time to blog about it too…..argh! :P
That painting is beautiful! You’ve captured the essence of the light so wonderfully – I can see it playing through the crystal depths of the bottles.
How are you, gypsy-heart? I have not been here in quite some time – but now I have returned, and hope to read your inspirational messages and see your wonderful art more regularly.
The new wordpress layout is interesting… I must confess, I’m a bit lost.
Cheers!
Evening Dearest Gypsy-Heart~
It’s so amazing…because as soon as I read your words about people stepping forward from the crowd and into the light….I SAW that!!
It actually gave me chills (good chillls). It felt so powerful!
Such a lovely piece of work here, my friend…just lovely.
I love the contrast of the darker color tones, behind the lighter ones.
In all of the pieces that you’ve ever shown here…I ALWAYS feel a deep sense of “sweetness” and “love” eminating from your work. The energy that moves through you, to create these pieces…always goes right to my HEART!
You’re always able to express both the light and the dark, through your work.
Which is what we ALL are!
And once again…I say thank you, dear friend.
Thank you for allowing me to SEE!
Thank you for this lovely site, i hope you have time to visit mine.. (: http://www.welovelyrics.com/
Your mastery of light is amazing. I am always in awe of it.
Have a beautiful rest-of-the-weekend!
:)
The picture is a beautiful symbol indeed. It reminds me of the second line of an Upanishad prayer Tamasorma Jyotirgamaya – from darkness take me to light. It was the closing chant in the movie Matrix too!
badkitty~ Thank you, you are always so sweet…and yes, the play of light and glass ’tis a challenge..but a fun one! :)
I hope your weekend was better!
Ethan~ Thank you for your kind words, and I am so glad you are back!
I skipped over to your site and left a comment! :)
Cheers to you too!
Ron~ Dear heart…your words always sparkle..you are a light my friend!
Once again I thank you for your words of inspiration. I so hope you do feel that energy here…for that would be my heart’s wish!
You are so right we are both the light and the dark. Thank god for a sense of humor to keep it all in perspective.. right!
Love ya!
diana~ Hello so glad you stopped by, and I thank you for your kind note!
I will be by to visit your site soon. :)
Kalliope~ Thank you love!
You know I am in awe of your images!! You certainly have a gift with light and shadow!
LOve that post!!!!!!!!!! I have not had a good week though :(
very lovely painting, was that black gesso?
Your bottle people are gorgeous :)
swahilya~ Thank you…my heart is smiling!
I would love to know more about Tamasorma Jyotirgamaya.
I watched the Matrix movie, and I loved it. I need to watch it again because I do not remember the closing chant! :(
Hello Kaylee2 ~ I am so happy you liked the post..though I am saddened that you did not have a good week. :(
Tomorrow when I light my candles I will mention your name!
Stay strong in spirit.
Good healing energies to you dear one!
Daz Cox ~ Hello again. So glad you liked the bottle piece. :)
No not black gesso. It is burnt umber and ultramarine blue. I have never used black gesso…do you like it?
I don’t usually use straight black in my pallet I always mix it…for me it just seems richer. :)
Thank you for leaving a note!
I’ve never actually used a dark gesso before but was about to try a ‘Bob Ross’ style landscape as part of a large oil painting and was considering black but i think I’ll mix my own, as you have done.
I keep thinking of that time when Matisse and Renoir were together and Renoir said that matisse was the first artist he had seen that made the black paint sink to the background instead of leaping to the front.
Oh well, just got to experiement!
gypsy, time to clean out the medicine cabinet. There is bound to be some interactions with all those drugs. You might end up painting.
Thanks gypsy :)
Grace~ thank you…I’m so glad you liked the “bottle people”..hee, hee.
Daz Cox ~ I have never used it either. I tried mixing a gray tent once..but it seemed like a waste of paint to me since I paint over the gesso anyway. :(
Let me know how your experiment goes! :)
wrjones ~ I am in la la land enough without drugs so I can’t imagine with them!! hee, hee.
.
kaylee2 ~ no need to thank me.
I hope you had a better day! :)
Yes, Gypsy I am doing much better than yesterday and even the last week! I have been suffering for depression lately :( and have had a high fever :( !
I hope you are feeling better now! You must keep your spirits up!
I see so many faces in the play of lights. Looking at each other. winking
Hi Gypsy-Heart,
I followed you over from Daz’s site, honestly cause I liked your name.
I also liked your bottles so I think I will stick around. I also enjoy your quotes around and about.
I seem to always be attracted to the light…..
Suz this is GORGEOUS! I love bottles! Just stopping by to say HUGS and though I am still MIA — still trolling your blog! :) And kalliope’s of course too! LOVE – sib
I love your work! This is a really wonderful piece. I love what you saw, the people stepping into the light. What you said is very true, we must step into our light, for that is the strongest light we will ever know! Thanks for sharing your talents!
Yes, you are a master (mistress?) of light. I thought this was pastel when I first saw it and was doubly impressed that it was the most challenging medium, acrylic.
Beautiful post. Timely, too.
Bo~ I see faces everywhere too…hee, hee. Somehow I am not surprised that you do too. :)
Wendi~ Hello! How nice you followed from Daz’s wonderful site!
So glad you liked the bottles. I hope you do stick around!
It is my hearts wish to always keep the light on! :)
Sib~ How wonderful to see your words. I have been thinking about you!
I can’t wait to hear all of your news when you return from MIA.
HUGS and LOVE to you too!
tobeme ~ So pleased you feel a connection to my work!
As usual your sage words ring true…our light within is the strongest. I finally realized that! :)
Thank you my sweet friend.
yb~ I like the phrase…mistress of light. hee, hee.
It does resemble a pastel doesn’t it! Yes, acrylics can be challenging..I really dislike them at first, but now it tends to be my medium of choice.
Thank you!
Dear gypsy. Your “steep into the light” inspired me as an idea. But the colours seemed too cold for my feeling. I dared to play with the picture. I was not shure wether I had the right to work with your picture… but it though you might like it. The result you see on my blog. If you want to play with my pictures or to re-paint them, you also can. It would be an honour to me. Best sunday greetings!
Henry~ I like your rendering of “Stepping Into the Light”..your inner vision of the light is brighter than mine. :) I like the yellows in yours.
I may take you up on painting your pictures!!
May we both grow brighter!
I see that my comments went through on your blog..both of them!! Sorry for the redundancy. I had technical problems that day! :O
