Waiting Brushes (acrylic on canvas)
“ Life is a great big canvas….
and you should throw all the paint you can on it!”
~Danny Kaye
Hello darlings…so another week is coming to a close. I hope all of you had a happy and productive one. :) Mine has been a good one, but I dare say another toad’s wild ride. At least I am crossing off my list. I confess, I have been procrastinating…not due to laziness, but just a little hesitant and prolonging decisions.
One thing on the list was meeting with a new print maker. I had to make about three trips across the river (which means city traffic and high bridges..yikes). One return trip was due to my forgetfulness, because I forgot to sign one of my pieces. :( Anyway, I’m not complaining, because I am happy to say the prints are in process! I am so excited about the quality! Remember I told you I love Stephanie, my framer…well now I love Ron, my printer too! I can’t wait to show you the prints. :)
I still have things to cross off this particular list, but at least I am finally in the right mode! So here’s a coffee toast to crossing off lists (no wine until evening for me). Speaking of lists…that brings me to the this piece and the quote.
Waiting paint brushes and a tin box (see reminder note about magic boxes at the bottom). Paint brushes patiently waiting for the artist…I often say I am a blank canvas. I can’t begin to tell you how many life canvases I have painted….let’s just say numerous! If you only knew..my sweet friends. eh, eh, eh!
Have you ever thought of yourself that way..as a blank canvas? If not..why not??? Not only are you a blank canvas dear hearts..you are the “soul” artist…no one else. So pick up those waiting brushes and dip into your pallet of choice.
I so agree with guru, Danny Kaye….Life is a great big canvas…..’tis all up to you…just start painting!!!
Until later then…ta, ta! :)
I can’t help myself, I am madly in love with life,
and…..
I am a blank canvas,
~gypsy-he♥rt

Oh, lady you have no idea! I have said the same thing many times before, once in reference to my attitude towards tattoos (that the body was quite literally a blank canvas waiting for an artist to fill it with beauty, too bad I don’t actually enjoy getting the tattoo or I would be covered!!) This is a very welcome reminder to me. That and the thought that if I don’t like what I have painted before, I can always just paint over it and start on a new one!
As for the link… select the text you want as the link and click on the unbroken chain button above your text box. It will give you a pop up window where you can type the url.
Blessings!
I kept smiling as I read your post. I’m thrilled how things are coming together for you and smiling at the thought of being able to create whatever we want in our lives….
Great subject for a painting. I have seven or eight I can’t finish. Lost my way right in the middle of working on them. It is a little like comparing one’s life to a blank canvas.
… and what a pleasure for a blank canvas to be covered in new sparkling colours! I wish You a really nice weekend, dear Gypsy-Heart!
(Love the painting, too!)
Nice painting but I’m not falling for that pick up the brush trick. These look like the size to paint the house with.
So curious to see if you get the linking! (only because it won’t work for me…, so if fox’s instructions don’t work, then it may be a tech issue not a ‘how to’ issue.)
I am working on my canvas… I threw away the old one… we can be blank canvases and paint whatever we wish to be…
My last canvas began with a blur of colors, mixing substances… then it got dark… from too many colors… the painting was dark… so I put it away… not forever… just for now… I can always look back and remember what I was…
Now it is not blank… just neutral… waiting for inspiration… I will take my time… and slowly and deliberately work on my master piece
Morning Dearest Gypsy-Heart~
You and I share yet, ANOTHER common thing…
I so often use the phrase, “A blank canvas.” It’s a phrase I learned when I was doing a lot of work in the theater. As an actor…it’s very helpful to imagine yourself completely BLANK…so that the “character” can paint him/herself on you.
And YES, my friend…I too feel as though I’ve painted numerous life canvases…
But isn’t it so much damn FUN????
The colors always change…to reflect the growth I’m experiencing.
Hey, and don’t you just LOVE Danny Kaye??? My god…was he such an awesome canvas!
And once again, I give thanks for such a “choc-full-of- nuts” post, my Florida buddy.
Have a wonderful weekend, Gypsy-Heart!
P.S. Love the art piece!!!!!
Great art work. Thanks so very much for sharing your art and your inspirations. I’m not quite sure what linking you are referring to; but here is the basic code:

Here is a working example:
In the above example, your photo will lead you to my blog. Copy and past the text and replace the picture and web address to whatever you wish to use.
Peace, Light and Love to you and yours….

Sorry, WordPress erased the code. Email me if you still need it and I will be glad to email it to you.
Being madly in love with life and having a canvas to express your soul as it is at that point in time is lovely, Gypsy-Heart… Reminds me of Monet’s interpretations of The Bridge…
hummmm blank canvases.
I wish I had the ability to be a blank canvas…while my past doesn’t control my present (much…LOL), I do feel like I am the sum total of all those parts and that somehow, all those parts are still important to making me who I am today.
That being said, I do feel like each DAY is a blank canvas, to be colored in by whatever intentions, words, actions, feelings that I desire. And for THOSE blank moments, I am forever grateful.
Love to you…
Fox ~ Hello! Me Kaye’s words are a good reminder for all of us!
Yes, the body is a canvas too. :) I have never had a tattoo, but I have seen some beautiful ones. I did get my nose pierced (which much to my surprise hurt ALOT), but I only wear a very tiny, tiny stone. Though I did buy a slender silver ring this week, and I plan to wear it soon. hee, hee.
Thank goodness we can start anew…eh? If not, I would be one bored soul!
Thank you for the link info. I tried once to no avail…but it is probably something I did wrong. :O
I will try again.
Thank you for stopping by Fox and leaving such a sweet and helpful note!!
Blessings to you too!
April~ I can feel your smiles. Thank you for your encouragement! I feel a good energy about everything..so we will see. All will be as it should..eh?
Good creative energies to you! :)
nouveaufauves~ Thank you ’tis an interesting subject…when all else fails just paint brushes. :)
I am sure you will go back into the paintings when the time is right. You had a difficult time with the loss of two loved ones.
The canvases will wait until the creator returns! :)
Anni ~ Thank you love…I like that word “sparkling” I wish you a really nice weekend too!!
wrjones ~ Thank you my crazy artist friend! :)
A large canvas requires large brushes…right? Believe me…my life canvas is large. As I tell my children..at least, no one can say we are boring. hee, hee.
Thanks for leaving me a note!
C~ Well so far I cannot do it. But I will keep on trying. I’ll keep you posted. :)
Enreal ~ I see your canvas a beautiful dear one. Neutral is a wonderful base..right?
We will all be watching and listening as your master piece evolves. :)
Ron ~ Hee, hee. As I said…twins!!
I am not at all surprised that you used the same phrase. :) Actors paint a canvas every time they become a character.
Somehow I knew you had also painted numerous life canvases..with many more to come I am sure!
Oh yeah…it’s fun and it only gets better!!
Thank you for your sweet words…so glad you liked the piece!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend too my dear funny friend!
Cordieb ~ Hello! Thank you for your kind inspiring words and for the technical help!
I am on Drayton island now and the internet service is antique and SO SLOW so I’ll try it Sunday when I am home.
I will be by to take a peak at your site soon.
Peace, Light, and Love to you and yours..too!
Annie ~ How nice to find your words again…I am looking forward to hearing more about your trip! :)
Your words made my heart smile Annie, and I thank you! It is a lovely point in time! :)
Grace ~ I agree about the sum total makes us who we are, and I would not change a thing…even the parts that were not “pretty.” :)
Each day…hell sometimes each minute can be a blank canvas!
Agape’ to you Dear Grace!
Hi,
I have to paint my canvas black before I paint on it. I don’t like to bother the white. ;)
Christy
I love the painting!
Love the work and the words are so true. :)
Happy Sunday evening to you, Gypsy-Heart ! Hope that you have a goos week ahead.
Looking forward to seeing the prints !
Love the painting! I love all artistic expressions that make me think about art itself. Besides, waiting brushes also are a good metaphor. Looking forward to seeing the prints too.
Hi Gypsy – I had all kinds of thoughts about things to write in response to your two latest posts – then I got down to your photo of the box and… this is such a beautiful box, not to mention – is that a three-monkey sculpture on top? I love that combination of objects on the box…
Actually, I especially resonate with the way you paint the tin box – boxes are mysterious and magical
BRUSHES
How many times have
you used me? See now: not what I
do, but what I am.
take care
P.S. Can I put this in my haiku list with a link to your picture?
I’ve got an extra syllable (8) in the second line – I can’t count these days! Try again:
Many times you have
used me; See now: not what I
do, but what I am.
Special offer – three comments for the price of 2 – I just checked the other comments: I do need to ask: ARE there artists who paint with brushes this size? Please excuse my ignorance.
94stranger~ Hello my good friend! I thank you…I always appreciate your input!
I love your haiku, and I would be honored if you wish to link it.
I will be over soon to read your latest beautiful words!
Creative energies to you!!
Just read your last comment (no limit by the way)…painters use all sizes…depending on the subject and the size of the canvas. I have used this size before (but rarely), and some that are extremely tiny. :)
That is a three monkey sculpture you see. I hope to paint that image soon…I will be adding one more monkey though. I had this image in my mind that I want to put to canvas. :)
