contemplation of heart (pastel on black paper)
In prayer it is better to have a heart without words….
than words without a heart.
~Mahatma Gandhi
Dear ones…I have few words today, to write would only be empty words. I do have things in my heart, but sometimes words are best left to themselves until there is understanding. Does that make any sense? The title to this piece came to me, and when I looked up the actual definition of contemplation I understood why the title.
Contemplation:
1 a : concentration on spiritual things as a form of private devotion b : a state of mystical awareness of God’s being
2 : an act of considering with attention : STUDY
3 : the act of regarding steadily
4 : INTENTION , EXPECTATION
So many times we talk to just talk (myself included)..I’ll spare you that now. Forgive me for being remiss about visiting your wonderful posts. I will be around soon to read your words….who knows maybe my understanding is waiting within your words. :) Leaving you now from…
~~~~a state of mystical awareness of God’s being~~~~
Sending all of you Love and Peace of Heart,
~gypsy-he♥rt
and peace be with YOU!
Thank you C..same to you!! :)
I love this painting. The energetic light dancing on the rosary/mala/prayer beads/necklace is amazing. It seems to visually illustrate the vibrations that sacred objects hold.
Thank you Kalliope you made my heart very happy…that was my wish. :)
Oooh…one other thing. In, the string of “heart light”, I was also reminded of the EKG wave lines that are manifested by the heart.
This painting has so much in it!
I like “the string of “heart light” I didn’t know about the EKG wave lines and the heart. I’ll have to look that up…I have to say I am not surprised though. Thank you for sharing that with me.
ahhh very lovely piece, I don’t think i’ve seen anything like it!
Gandhi has so many excellent quotes!
Thank you Daz I am honored that you like it. Ahh…I like being different. :)
Yes, he does have many excellent quotes!
Your work is amazing Gypsy. Simply amazing.
You are much too kind SE! ‘Tis you that is quite amazing..such a gentle soul you are! :)
Thank you for sharing the definition of contemplation, It was a treasure, and an illumination…
When i was a child I had a secret spot on a high hill over looking a valley, when the world got to be just to much i would sneak out and sit there and just stare off at the vistas.
I called it contemplation point…
Oh Sorrow even as children we were so similar. For me, it was the forest. I had several special spots..one such was a huge tree that fell over a creek..a perfect place to sit over the water to contemplate..and for me “to escape”
‘Tis a shame we did not grow up near each other for I have no doubt we would have been great friends!
OMG THANKS :)
For whatever your heart gathered here I am most happy!
Thank you for stopping by! :)
you are doing wonderful work, gypsy-heart.
Thank you Bo I am happy that you feel a connection!
Good Evening Dearest Gypsy-Heart~
Jeese!
Your words here are so appropriate for how I feel right now…looking at this piece.
I have NO words…
(oh, yes I do)
The piece itself…just blows me away. At first I thought it was the Pope!
And the COLORS!!!
Is that Scarlet?
Ya know, you come to a point on the spiritual path, where words are actually a hindrance. An annoyance. Quite often when I meditate, I no longer speak to God. I can’t. I find, that if I just FEEL…God knows.
Even within my everyday interactions with people, I find that words are sometimes exhausting.
My favorite days, are spent with a friend in silence. Just allowing the silent energy of our feelings to communicate on their own.
There is great power in Silence.
Thank you, dear Gypsy-Heart….for sharing a piece that is both silent…and vocal.
Thank you Ron dear heart!
These pastels are luscious aren’t they! I bought them from a little art store going out of business (half price). They are from England and to me they really feel like painting! I love to get my fingers in it. The colors are amazing..such a range in each hue. I save them like treasures…that is probably silly of me. Remember those huge box of crayons though…like a thousand in a box ..that is what these feel like to me. :) Now, as when a child, I don’t want to use them up. hee, hee.
I loved all of your words (as usual). You summed it up with this one line:
“There is great power in Silence.”
Thanks for your encouragement, it means a lot to me. You don’t definitely need encouragement because your work speaks for itself. I think words are best left to themselves until there’s understanding, too.
No need to thank me dear Indigo! All comes full circle! Besides, I have enjoyed reading your story from day one!! I will be over in a bit to see if you have a new post..somehow I think you do. I usually can feel your energy there. :)
Yes..until understanding…though I tend to grow impatient with the waiting. I tend to over think everything…I am trying to just “let be” and let the answers unfold.
I’ll be over in a bit.
((( G.H. )))
I found this piece particularly centering and peaceful. I’d like to think that a life spent in contemplation, is one that is spent well.
Thanks for being YOU.
Ahh…Centering and peaceful…that means so much to me dear Grace!
Thank you for BEING!
GYPSY!!! Sending hugs and smiles
Loved this… your words of contemplation sung to my soul… I know of the peace and power of contemplation… you search for the words… no words needed indeed! Bless you for this!
I felt your hugs and smiles Enreal..thank you!
We seem to hear the same soul songs..eh?
“no words needed indeed” Amen!
Blessings to you too!
Oh Gypsy, I am worried about you. Something sounds amiss. I hope you are okay. Your piece is lovely as always.
Thank you for your concern Lisa…no need to worry though. ‘Tis only me..I go in and out..darkness and light…stepping out and withdrawing… You know what I mean. :O
Thank you for you encouragement about my work. :)
Makes total sense, Gypsy-Heart. Be at peace, dear one – until your thoughts and heart are back in alignment. Thinking of you -
L.A.
Thank you Annie!
I sometimes wonder if I will ever connect all the lines and spaces. I seem to have an abundance of spaces. hee, hee.
Funny. I planned my comment only to find that Annie (above) already used almost the exact words I meant to write!
See You around, dear cybersister! I just LOVE this painting!
That is funny dear Anni…we all seem to travel in the same circle!
cybersister indeed!! Thank you!
What a beautiful peace; I perceive its subject is indeed contemplating matters of the heart. Those matters must be contemplated in silence- For the heart and mind are sometimes not on one accord – thus we must quiet them both. The painting is absolutely incredible and breath-taking- I see the heart so vividly but yet so faintly – however you come up with these inspirations, I will never know. But they are very beautiful and impressionable – Well, I’ll go contemplate on your beautiful painting for a while – ah. . . the power of love. . .
Peace, Light and Love to you Dear Gypsy Heart.
Thank you cordieB it makes me happy that the piece “spoke” to you!
Your words are so true:
“For the heart and mind are sometimes not on one accord – thus we must quiet them both.”
Peace, Light, and Love you too dear heart!
Yeah, isn’t this true? Made me remember a poem Eugene Gomringer wrote in 1954 that I learned i seminary:
silencio silencio silencio
silencio silencio silencio
silencio silencio
silencio silencio silencio
silencio silencio silencio
It’s all “spoken” for me in that “true silence” in the 3rd line.
Preacherman (I still smile every time I see that). Welcome back..I hope you had a wonderful vacation!
The poem is perfect! Thank you!
What a beautiful post and beautiful picture. Sometimes we need to go still and contemplate. And I love the quote you posted from Gandhi.
Ahh…thank you April…glad you liked the quote and the piece.
You are so right..we need to go still sometimes…for me, I seem to need it more. :O
Gandhi’s words say what I could not. :)
I think the world would do better if we had more contemplation actually.
Great page here, glad I stopped by.
JO
Hello JO!! I agree I think the world would do better!
Thank you for your encouragement. I am glad you stopped by too. I plan to get by your site soon.
Beautiful painting – it has given me inspiration to create a contemplation garden this year. Thank you!
Thank you Truddle..how nice to see your words again! :)
Can’t wait to hear about your contemplation garden!
Beautiful work Gypsy.
Thank you Glenn…you are too kind! :)
