Tuscan Hill (acrylic on canvas 24″ x 32″)
The beauty of the trees,
the softness of the air
the fragrance of the grass,
speaks to me.
The summit of the mountain,
the thunder of the sky,
speaks to me.
The faintness of the stars,
the trail of the sun,
the strength of fire,
and the life that never goes away,
they speak to me.
And my heart soars.
~Chief Dan George (Teswahno)
Hello Darlings how are all of you? If you are like me you are thinking this is only Wednesday, and it’s already Friday! :O
I will keep this short especially since this is sort of a long quote…but I do so like it! This impasto piece was painted from a photograph I took in Italy. I loved the cedar groves on the hill tops…to me they looked like crowns. Every one held a mystery for me…like this image with a house tucked within the grove. I really connected to the land there, and that’s why I painted so many pieces (and plan to do some more). I long to be there..in time, in time..eh?
I hope all of you are experiencing green grasses now. ‘Tis summer here, and the air smells of gardenias, magnolias, jasmine, and wild roses. The manatees and alligators are swimming, and the fish are jumping…which are sure signs. :) With SO MUCH UNFOLDING around me I can’t help but want to be out there too!
Well, I said this would be short so I will keep my word. :) I agree with Chief Dan George all of these things speak to me…ahh yes, and my heart is listening!
What speaks to you dear ones?
I will be around to see all of you soon…I am looking forward to catching up on your worlds.
Love, light, and laughter to all…
my heart soars

When I am in the woods writing poetry, I like to think of it as plein poetry. :-)
Enjoy, Gypsy, and I love your painting.
Thank you Bo. I like your idea of plein poetry too!
ahhhhh beautiful work and words!
It is such a pleasure to come here!
Daz…your words mean so much to me. I have mixed feelings about keeping this blog. I see your words as a confirmation.
Thank you!
Evening Dearest Gypsy-Heart~
Ahhhhh…I feel like I’m in Italy right…sipping some fabulous Chianti and eating some Italian bread and cheese!
Yummy!
Dove sono il libri?
(that’s the only italian sentence I know)
“Where are the books?”
tee, hee…
Also…che faccia BRUTTA.
(that’s what I used to say about my hateful Italian grandmother)
“What an ugly face!”
tee, hee…
Anyway, my dear friend…I LOVE the piece and words you share here today. I feel as if I’m standing in that field, and can feel a light breeze blowing across my face….
And what speaks to me?
Sitting in my favorite city park on a Sunday afternoon, feeding the squirrels and feeling the healing energy from the trees above me.
Nothing gets better than that!
Enjoy your weekend, dear Gypsy!
Love ya!
Ron my sweet friend..Thank you. I wish we were there together! I am longing to go again! As I said in time…in time! :)
You know more Italian than me…I only remember a few words myself.
Yes I feel that light breeze too…I travel there often in my mind. :)
I love what speaks to you especially the healing energy of trees!!
Love ya too!
Blessings Gypsy… Have a wonderful weekend… the painting and words are beautiful as always… keep shining!
Thank you enreal! You are always a light here! :)
Nature always speaks to me, Gypsy Heart. As does wonderful music, a good book, children laughing, animals frolicking and good art.
I love your painting! Besides being beautiful, it hints at mystery, which I love. Being a writer, I love anything that tells a story, and this painting lets me finish the story however I wish. A secret getaway in a grove for forbidden lovers to meet, a happy family home on the top of a hill overlooking their land, it can go any way we want!
Very nice.
It speaks to me too Rhea! I agree with the other things on your list!
I love a good mystery too! I am always imagining the story of such places, and yes, it can go anyway we want..which is a good thing…eh? :)
Thank you for leaving your words here!
Blessings to you Dear Gypsy Heart. Well I must say that this morning YOU spoke to me dear Gypsy – I must get off my pitty pot and go out and enjoy life today – “Tis summer here, and the air smells of gardenias, magnolias, and jasmine. . . . . and the fish are jumping…which are sure signs. :)” Of life, love, wonderment and beautiful creation. All is not dreary; in fact most is most facinating. Thanks for the blessed reminder. (I’m smiling now!) Love and butterfly kisses to you today and always . . . . CordieB.
Ahhh…you made my evening CordieB. My heart is happy…my heart is grateful.
Love and butterfly kisses to you too!
How beautiful! I smile every time I look at my backyard–especially in the evening and early morning when the rabbits come to visit. I smile when I see the amazing woman my daughter has become. I smile when I taste lush fruit or have a perfect cup of coffee. I smile when I hear gorgeous music. I smile when I play my Wii, delighted by the inventiveness of humankind.
Your painting made me nostalgic for Italy. Wandering the streets of Venice–and feeling as if I’ve lived there before. Exploring Florence 30 years ago and feeling as if I wished I could stay far longer than I did. Riding through the countryside and feeling a sense of wonder and peace.
Thank you.
I love your list April!
I am going to Venice next year. :) Florence is a special place for me too! Wonder and peace are perfect words to describe my feelings of the countryside too.
It is I that thanks you!
That was a beautiful post for me personally GH, just what the doctor ordered. Both the poem and the painting have lives of their own.
And of course, your verbiage — as always — is very uplifting.
I hope you don’t mind if I copy the painting for my collection of really great stuff.
Thank you Glenn…your words are uplifting for me!
I don’t mind you copying the painting for your collection only…I am honored that you feel a connection to it! :)
The grove is gorgeous. I find them amazing, how they will crop up in a wide, flat plain. There must be some ecological reason for it, but I often wonder if a home once was there. Did someone plant them, and now the house is gone? I really must learn more about why they occur.
Thank you Yb! I agree they are amazing. Yes they are a mystery! :)
Beautiful work, wonderful words.
Ahh…thank you Heather.
Me too, gypsy, I’d like another dose of Italy – in my case, it’s been a long, long time. Take care, 94S
Yes once you go you are bewitched, and you long to go back. I will be going to Venice, but not until next year because I have too much going on here this year.
You take care too my friend!
Beauty always speaks to me. I love your painting. I spent much time in Italy, it is a true place of beauty. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you tobeme…you always make my heart happier.
Thank you for stopping by!
I love your talents, your art! and I especially feel this exuberance you have going on.
Thank you C…I don’t know about talents, but I do know about passions. :)
I know you understand!
That foreground looks so soft and cool. I want to lie down and take a nap.
Thank you Bill…that would be my wish for you! :)
Such beautiful lush green. I love this painting….and the words of inspiration!
Thank you Kalliope. I am so happy you feel a connection!
what strikes me most about this painting, GypsyGirl, is the way the trees hide the house from an ‘outsiders’ viewpoint…like a live, lush shield of protective hugs. The people on the inside could surely see any stranger walking up the road. But the weary traveler has only their faith and trust that a welcome awaits them.
Lovely stuff. your work always gets me thinking :) xoxox
Thank you dear Grace, and how perfectly you described my feelings! One can only imagine, and ig how I love to imagine! :)
xoxox to you too!
Peace Gypsy-Heart,
This is a beautiful painting. It strongly reminds me of the hills of South Wales. I often see very similar sights here – a small wood on a high hill.
Beautiful! God bless you for bringing such beauty to us.
Abdur Rahman
Thank you Abdur and how interesting about the hills of South Wales! I have never been there…maybe someday! :)
God bless you my new friend!
I am in love with your greens.
Thank you DG those are Tuscan greens. :)
