“I have no hostility to nature,
but a child’s love to it.
I expand and live in the warm day
like corn and melons.”
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Hello all…this will be very short as I am pretty tired tonight. We have been working on the renovation again. So that means busting out plaster walls. My job was shoveling up plaster off the floor. Needless to say, I am somewhat tired, but a good tired if you know what I mean! As I am shoveling it up…I keep telling myself
this is good for you girl..it’s exercise with a purpose! hee, hee.
You know what…it’s true, and I am so excited about what we are doing. Eventually, the house will be a home/gallery with studios. So many plans for this place!!!
About this piece Watermelon Magic…it was a fun quick little piece. It is getting hot here…summer has really arrived! I enjoy summer time as I am a warm weather person, and I do “expand and live in a warm day!” Each season holds it’s own magic though..don’t you think? Plus, have you ever looked closely at watermelons? They are all unique little paintings outside and within..they are quite beautiful! I love to eat watermelon , but I love most fruits and vegetables. I don’t think I told you, but I started a vegetarian diet a few months ago. Please know, I do not judge what others eat…for me it was a health decision, but also a spiritual one. I just don’t want to eat anything that has a face. So far, so good!
Well, I am going to call it a night…I can barely keep my eyes open. I will finish up our little chat in the morning.
Later Morning: Just a quick good morning everyone as I am going to pick up the shovel again. :O I may post a few photographs soon so you can see some of the process and progress of the old house. Actually, I’ve been thinking about posting some of my photographs, I have tons of them. I’ve only it mentioned in passing, but I am a photographer too. :)
I will be around to see everyone tomorrow. I wish you all a wonderful weekend!
Remember……………expand and live!!
I leave you for now…
with a child’s love,

oh my, what a beautiful Emerson poem. I do not know I have read it before.
“I have no hostility to nature,

oh let us dance the dance of such!
ps. I followed you home as well. *smile*
Greetings shewolf! ‘Tis a beautiful poem isn’t it! I had never read it before either. I love how you put it..dance the dance of such! Perfect idea!!
Thank you and I am so glad you did!
Watermelons are a super food. :o)
Good luck with your renovations!!
Yes they are…and super good too! Thank you Rhea. :)
G-Heart:
You are a true artist in every sense of the word. Another great painting, and the medium is dynamite.
I can’t wait for you to post a photo of the finished renovation, especially the studio. I’m so happy for you.
Kudos on the vegetarian diet. When I went to Yoga teacher’s training when I first moved to Florida, I remember the Yogi saying, “God made man the guardian of the animal kingdom, not the slaughterer of it.”
I have five cats, two that live inside, two outside, and one that goes in and out. I also have a raccoon. How could I eat meat and possibly look them in the face? For me, it would be tantamount to eating their brethren.
Like you, I have no issues with other’s diets. But veggies prepared the right way are awesome. And I plan to buy a nice big water melon tomorrow morning.
Thank you for your kind words Glenn..I am humbled.
Yes…the animals faces. Each to his own though..eh?
I hope you enjoyed your water melon!
Peace of heart to you!
Evening Dear Gypsy-Heart~
Ok….can I just tell you how freaking excited I was to see your piece on WATERMELON!!!!
It’s my favorite fruit and thing about summertime!
YUMMY!
I especially love the seedless kind, so I can eat it REAL fast and not have to bother with the seeds! Although I do enjoy SPITTING them into the air!
tee, hee!
And your right about watermelons all looking different inside and out…I never thought of that.
I’m also freaking excited to hear about your idea on a home/gallery studio! That’s a BRILLIANT idea!!!
And YES…please DO share some photo’s of the progression of the house. I would really enjoy seeing them.
I’ve seen your photography already, and I told you before….it’s WOW!
Thanks for sharing this piece, words…and your journey. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
P.S. Ok…I’m going to cut myself a HUGE piece of watermelon right now!
Ron dear heart..thank you again…you ALWAYS make my heart smile..and you ALWAYS make me laugh!
I hope you are still enjoying water melon..we only have so many weeks to indulge! I like the seedless ones too! :)
Busy life, happy life. Sending hugs and precious light to you from Wisconsin. Promise not to spit any watermelon seeds your way. :-)
Thank you Bo..I feel the hugs and light from you!
mmmmm loveliness!
This will cheer up a space on a wall somewhere!
Thanks Daz!!! :)
You are blessed to see through the eyes of an artist. Hope you had a great weekend and that the heat was not too much for you.
Thank you for your light Mark!
I love watermelons too! I spent a summer in my teens cutting watermelons in halfs at a grocery store. I’m still the expert! ;-)
Oh Anni..what an interesting life you’ve had! I am not an expert at it…as long as I can get to it I am okay though. :)
Wow! How wonderful to be creating the space in which you want to live and work. At the same time, I can imagine it’s exhausting. Lovely post as always.
Thank you April. We only go there on weekends to work on it. I don’t think I could do it every day! It is exhausting at times…but a good exhaustion if that makes any sense. Someday we’ll look back on all the hard work…and I think fondly so. :)
So glad you enjoyed the post!
Gorgeous, as always :) I love how the light amplifies the seeds. I have a feeling your photos will be equally as moving :)
And congrats on finding an eating style that works for you :) Frankly, I didn’t feel well on a strickly vegetarian diet and I’ve stopped beating myself up about it after attempting it several times. Call it rationalization (LOL) but what helped me was to look at the animals themselves…I wouldn’t judge a lion because it didn’t eat like a rabbit. And then again, I’m very tied into Native American spirituality that teaches that the animals come knowingly with their own gifts of Life and Sustenance for us. So I try to show gratitude for their gifts, understanding that “life” never ends and that energy exchanges all have their own special results.
Monday blessings to you Miss G.H.!
Thank you dear Grace…you are most kind, as always!
I do understand about the vegetarian diet. That is why I said I do not judge..no pushing or preaching about it. In fact, I think there is only one other person that is in my family and that is a distant cousin.
I totally understand the Native American way about it!
Can you believe Monday has already rolled around again!! So Monday blessings to you!
Gypsy, it is watermelon time. I was going to suggest I stop by for some barbecue until you mentioned picking up a shovel.
Yes..it will be water melon time until they are no more this season. :)
Ah yes…picking up a shovel does tend to keep the guests away…hee, hee.
You are certainly welcome to join us for Photo Friday! eHugs, C
Thank you for the “invite” C…I’ll probably have to pass. It is all I can do to keep this going.
I do enjoy seeing what all of you do though!!
Hugs back to you!
Good morning GypsyHeart. I love the watermelon painting. Watermelons remind me of the dog days of summer. I love those hot days. It’s been REALLY hot here, 105. I’m not quite used to being this hot! Can’t wait to see the renovation photos and anxiously awaiting your photography. BTW, do you have a flickr account? If so, pass on the link so we can have a preview of beauty. Peace, Light and Love, CordieB.
Good afternoon CordieB…I can’t believe a week has passed. :O
I am happy you like the little watermelon piece..it was fun to do! :)
I love hot days too..but 105 is a bit much, I agree!
I hope to have some photos on here in time. I do not have a flickr account. I just don’t think I have the time to manage another site. I struggle to take care of the ones I have.
Peace, love, and light to you too!
The watermelon looks so real….I think I will have to go buy one. ;)
Love,
Christy
I hope you bought your watermelon Christy! It would not be summer without them!
Love to you too!
