All Around the Light
Beyond thinking,
beyond speaking,
these depths are still greater
and neither
my word
nor my heart
can plumb them.
~Priestess Senshi (964-1035)
Hello again dear hearts…can you believe seven days have passed since our last chat? :O I have been thinking of you though, and I hope life has been sweet to all of you! :)
I will not have much to say on this Monday. I think the words of Senshi say it quite well for me. Sometimes it is best to simply be quiet and let the stillness fill *feel* your heart up…eh? All is good with me. Ive had some peaceful days of late…reflective ones, though. Sort of like this painting. This was a piece about looking out from Drayton Island at another island. Now, it is only a digital image and my reflection of what it once was for it is no more. I painted over it so it lies quietly beneath layers of paint. click on image and then again to zoom, and you can walk there in the moon light … for the energy still remains. :)
Hmmm….could we apply that to ourselves? Does it matter what lies deep within…under all the layers? That is where my reflective thinking has been lately…or maybe it is best said…my unthinking. :) I have been softly walking within my own heart ..all around the light. Sometimes it seems just beyond my reach..and yet it beckons me to linger. So I think I will remain there a spell, while the layers melt away. I know I am probably not making any sense at all. Forgive me.
I leave you now with someone I often quote (a kindred hermit):
Direct your eye right inward
and
you’ll find a thousand regions of your mind
yet
Undiscovered..
~Henry David Thoreau (Walden)
My wish for all of us this week is a time and place of stillness…one beyond thinking and speaking for…..
Discoveries await us!
Love, Light, and Peace of Heart to all,
~gypsy-he♥rt
Ps I received about 25 canvas frames this weekend!! So now they are waiting for me to stretch and gesso the canvas, and then I can paint, paint, paint!!! As I have often said painting ’tis a place of stillness for me! :)

It actually sounds like you are in a really good place, Gypsy-Heart, “walking within your own heart all around the light.”
There is so much beauty in that statement.
Nothing to forgive – you are making sense.
The peace of walking in the moonlight is palpable in your picture.
A time and place of stillness is so precious. The Thoreau quote goes well with that.
25 canvas frames ? whoo-hoo !
Genuinely,
Loving Annie
Thank you for your kind words, Annie…Your right, it is a good place. :)
Yes, 25+ canvas frames…I’m excited!!
Good Evening Dearest Gypsy-Heart~
What you share here makes PERFECT sense to me. PERFECT.
You’re in that beautiful space of RECEIVING. And in that space…there is no thinking, it’s just allowing.
And I love how with many of your pieces, you paint over them, with yet another image. This to me, is such a wonderful representation of the many layers of our lives. Because each of those layers, allows the next layer to be created.
Gorgeous piece BTW. I did enlarge it and felt as though, I wanted to walk through the trees!
Once again, my Capricorn friend…you share a beautiful image, with inspiring words!
Thank you.
Love ya!
Thank you Ron dear heart…You are always so inspiring…do you know that?
Yes, layers and layers..eh? We just keep creating and moving forward!!
So glad you liked the piece and stepped into it.
Love ya!
Blank notebooks are to me what blank canvasses are to you. Excitement, hope, possibilities.
Lovely post.
Thank you Rhea…I agree, blank note books…blank canvas both waiting for the energies of brush and pen. :)
Lovely.
Thank you leafless..so happy you connected. :)
Your paints feel my heart up, GypsyHeart :) Thanks for that….
Ahh…Thank you dear Grace, I loved what you said….. of course, that would my wish! :)
How big are you painting? If you paint smaller you can use panels and save a lot of time for painting and a lot of space (unless they sell immediately like they should).
You can talk wiffledust with me Gypsy – I will listen.
This one was 24″ x 32″ which is a size I use a lot. Hmmm…interesting about the panels. I’ll have to check into it. Thank you for the advice wrj and for listening. hee, hee :)
AWWWW I want to paint :(
I think you should Kaylee…it is meditative!! :)
I love to come and just hear your musings. You have such a gentle voice, and it honestly soothes me just to read your words. The painting is calm and soothing, too. Nice reminder to stop, reflect, just be still.
Ybonesy, thank you SO much…sometimes I wonder why I am trying to keep this blog going…your words meant a lot to me this morning! Thank you for inspiring me! :)
Oh, I made the mistake of spending some time with the image first… then I read that it is no more. Almost made me want to cry!
Is it just me? But somehow I don’t get it when you’ve captured such an evocative image (I REALLY see Lake George at nighttime in it!)… and then it goes away forever… (Maybe if I were a painter I’d end up with canvas EVERYWHERE?!?)
What lies in your artist heart when you make one creation ready to become another? I think I’m missing something important here.
RPS
Preacherman..I’m sorry I disappointed you.:( Maybe I should make note at the top of the image “THIS PIECE IS NO MORE…eh?
Sometimes I’m just not happy with the piece, and I admit I regretted painting over a few when I saw the image later. So, I have made the rule now to let some time pass before I do it. I’ve also done it when I needed a piece in a hurry so rather than stretch a new one and gesso it I grabbed one and paint over it. :O I painted over a few pieces that my husband really liked so he asked me if I would please ask him before I paint over a piece. :)
Thank you for your kind words!!
Thanks for the comment! It’s great to hear from you again. =)
This painting is gorgeous! It makes me want to just dive into the water and bask in the moonlight.. *sighs*
Good energies to you!
Thank you Rachel…you made my heart smile.
So glad you felt like diving in the energy!! :)
“Direct your eye right inward

Undiscovered….”
Very wise indeed… how often do we search out side ourselves for meaning, purpose, answers… leaving the shadow inside our hearts awaiting the spotlight…
Have a terrific week
I so agree Enreal..very wise indeed!! I searched out side for many years until I realized what I needed was contained within! At times, I still forget that. :(
Thank you for BEing!
may you have the best of the nectar of solitude…lol
Thank you mergingpoint!
I visited your site and I left a comment but I am not sure it went through. I am on Drayton Island and it is a real challenge to do anything on here. :( I will check later to see.
So many layers for all of us. And light, perhaps, where we least expect it.
I’m smiling picturing you with all your new canvases just waiting for your beautiful paintings to be.
So true April…especially the “where we least expect it” part. :)
Thank you for you encouragement..yesterday I prepared some of the canvases..today I paint!! :D
I love this painting, so easy to get lost in it’s beauty.
Ah..so glad you like it Mark, and I thank you for your kind words!! :)
As always, I am so inspired by a single click to your blog! You know I adore all of your work, but I think I have found another special favorite in this one. I still am gobsmacked over the way you are able to harness light and make it so touchable and palpable. WOW. This one just drenched me with its beauty.
Thank you Kalliope dear heart…your words touched my heart and inspired me this morning!!
Oh, Gypsy – another 7 days has passed – are you enjoying vacation? Let us see the pics.
Hello wr…I think I need a vacation. hee, hee
I finally stretched and prepared some canvases yesterday so today I paint!! :)
