While we try to teach our children all about life
our children teach us what life is all about.
~Angela Schwindt
Good evening, dear hearts. I hope all is good in your worlds.
Last Friday I received word that a group of elementary age students from Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind were going to the Tactile Show, so I drove down to the gallery in St Augustine. For those that did not see the post about the show here is a link if you care to read it. Energies (Art Beyond Sight Awareness Month)
So as promised, here are the photos of some of the blind children with the Energies piece. I was very careful not to show faces, even though I had permission to take the pictures. When you see these beautiful bright children you will understand why I feel so passionate about Art Beyond Sight Month.
To enlarge click on the photos.
#1) The gallery administrator asked the children if they had any questions, and this little boy wanted to know if they were going to paint. Needless to say, I felt a connection to this young painter. I have said many times that I have no desire to teach art, but I admit such times make me think about teaching (just a little).
~~
#2) If that little boy doesn’t touch your heart enough..look at this picture: Here he is again, only this time he is with his twin brother who is also blind.
~~
#3) Another precious child. I ended up taking the piece off the wall, and placing it on their level. I wonder, are there galleries for children..with work hanging at their level?
~~
# 4) The children really liked touching the moon’s face.
~~
So there you go…this is what it is all about for me!!
My heart is full tonight.
Love to all!

PS As I told you last Tuesday went fine (thank you again for the good energies). If I am invited back next year I will do things a little differently. I had no idea what to expect this time. I think there were more sighted people in the audience, than not. Afterward some wonderful people came up to chat with me. Did you know the blind and low vision people can hear things on the internet, such as blog posts!! So I am happy to welcome some of them here now listening to our words. :)

Gypsy, my love – this is what it is all about.
Making meaning. You not only have made meaning for those precious kids, you have woven a huge fiber of meaning into your own life.
Thank goodness we have people in the world like you who go a few extra miles to reach out and love, reach out and share the truly important things.
Way to go in sharing your special art, you wonderful special you! Big hugs for you. Wish I could take you out to lunch to celebrate!!! :-)
*Ah…thank you Bo, and I so agree this is what it is all about! Yes, it has added meaning to my life…and it continues.
I wish we lived near each other because I would love to have lunch with you! l felt your hugs, and they felt divine! :)
Ah – As I spotted the first picture I was thinking, “Oh drats, they placed the paintings way too high for this little man” and I was tickled and pleased to see you moved it down.
:)
Your photograph makes the painting even more impressive in that it gives scale and I could better appreciate it’s magnificience in full size.
There is a museum in Philadelphia where things are set to a child’s height – it recently reopened, called the The Please Touch Museum – its not dedicated to the blind or low vision – but to the young people that wish to explore the marvels and mysteries of their world.
Teaching is often not as easy as doing, despite the adage “Those that can’t, teach” – but I suspect you would be a good one – just based on knowing you have considerable empathy for your audience.
*Good Evening Iggy. I always love reading your words!
Yes, I did take the piece down to their level, and I plan to take a peek at the museum site.
Thank you for your encouragement about teaching…you never know. Someone asked me today about a summer camp. That is something I might be interested in doing..especially with children. :)
Love your paintings! SO rich and mysterious. I love that about them!
-Jacob
*Hello Jacob and thank you for your kind words!
I do love a good mystery. hee, hee
This is so beautiful on so many levels. Thank Goddess for you!
*Thank you Kalliope, my dear. I say the same for you!! :)
Yes, I love your work; it fills me, and energizes me….. but what I love even more, is that you have done this beautiful thing for others, and what a gift that is!!! Your soul is so full of love and giving…….. I sense that. Thanks for what you have done here! Vanessa
*Thank you VERY much Vanessa…you my dear, are an inspiration! :)
Good Evening Dearest Gypsy-Heart!
OH MY….
This was AMAZING!
As I scrolled down to each photo and read your words, I could feel the “energy” flowing out of them.
I could, in a sense…feel the children…FEELING the piece!
It made me weep.
However, not in a sad sense…but it a sense that made me realize, how Universal energy CONNECTS us to one another.
And just how powerful it is.
Through the energy that moved through YOU, which created this piece, and then how it moved through them…and then to me!
I could actually feel YOU in these photos!
You have been given such a wonderful gift, my dear friend.
You create images that communicate it’s original source….
LOVE!
You ARE a teacher….however, you teach in powerful silence.
I can’t thank you enough for sharing this post with us, Gypsy-Heart!
And I leave here this evening…with my heart FULL!
LY!
P.S. and I LOVE the quote too!!!!
*Good Evening Ron…thank you my dear friend, you can’t help but weep when you see those precious children, can you!
I SO agree…”Universal energy CONNECTS us to one another.”
I feel a special connection to you!
Love ya!
Oh Gypsy!
How wonderful!
I think you would make a wonderful teacher.
I really do.
Kids are so much more fun than grown ups. They come with out expectations and just the need to play and express themselves!
How sweet you are!
and i am all misty eyed just thinking about the treasures you have given these young souls!
Blessings in abundance to you!!!
*Thank you Sorrow, dear heart.
I agree kids are more fun than grown ups. Play and expression..’tis what we tend to lose as adults.
Not sure I have the patience to teach…I am not patient with myself. I do very much appreciate your encouragement though. :)
Blessings in abundance to you too!
My heart is so moved by this I don’t even know what to write!!!
*Thank you Anni…I feel your energy..so enough said. :)
I see potentials in these kids. You would make a wonderful teacher. I guess nothing is as pure as those who are young and those who are young at heart.
*I agree Leafless so much potential! :) Thank you..not sure I would be a good teacher, but I am so inspired by these children…and as you say, those “young and those who are young at heart.”
Oh gypsy, dear one, this made me weep! Their little hands, the twins, both blind! I could see my grandchildren in these children! *tears* How wonderful both for you and of you to share your energy and gifts in this way….I feel sad and overjoyed at the same time! The children broke my heart, but in a good way. The little hands on the moon…oh, you know as I start in again….
Thank you for sharing this very special time with us. It is so inspiring! You are a very special Spirit.
*Ah Linda…I did too, but a good weep..agreed? I very much understand your feelings..we felt the same. :) The children were so precious!
You inspire me too! Thank you, my sweet friend.
Children are wonderful. They ‘see’ so much ! That was beautiful for you to do and them to be able to experience.
*Yes they are Annie, and they do see so much!!
I got far more out of it than I gave. :)
This is so beautiful! Thank you for sharing with us these photos.
*You are very welcome April…I’m glad you enjoyed it!
AWESOME! I am so glad that this is the first online spot I stopped at today. It’s going to be a sunny love-filled day, I can tell. Thank you, C

What a coincidence. My first visit to your blog in a long time is met with this perfect piece of information. My art league in Charlotte has been thinking of doing some kind of project for blind children. What can you tell us?
*I emailed you Sandra..let me know if you didn’t get it. :)
I’m calling a bit late but these are really heart-warming photos. Thank you for sharing them with us. You say: “this is what it is all about for me!” I can understand exactly why you feel that way.
I am so touched by this, no pun intended, truly.
[...] just so happens that after reading Amber’s post, I stopped in at the land of Gyspsy Heart, and found a piece on tactile art that she had done and the photos of the children that were blessed by her art. Absolutely amazing. If that is not kindness, than I don’t [...]
