I appreciate flower shop bouquets,
but I find the most magic in fresh flowers from a garden..
mine or otherwise.
..and somehow
an old glass jar only adds to the magic.

Hello all..it has been far to long since I’ve been on here. I hope all is well in your worlds. Much going on in life..yours and mine, so I am going to try to keep this brief.
Well, summer is here, and I count sunflowers among my favorite summer flowers. Besides the symbolism of them, I love how big and bold they are..they demand attention in the garden like sun and moon do in the sky! Small ones are growing in my garden now, and each morning I look to see what changes came in the night. Hot summer days, sunflowers, and old glass jars go together…at least they do in my world. So I hope I managed to capture a little of the magic in this piece!
As for life..as of late, guru dogs (Ringo and Amber), and I have been in the studio a lot! Now don’t get me wrong I love being there, and so do they..but I am falling behind on other things. I have to prepare for those solo shows though, and I made a vow not to procrastinate this time! Did I tell you..about 60 pieces total..and did I tell you I had an anxiety attack-middle of the night meltdown about it???? I did, but I got a grip on myself..as I always seem to do. So next time I write I’ll run the show titles by you..and I should have the dates confirmed by then.
I am getting ready to make some business changes too…yes, AGAIN! I keep thinking an art business manager, god, or goddess will appear in my life so I can focus only on painting and such. So far it hasn’t happened though I continue to hope. I have to believe when the time is right he/she/they will appear. At least, that has been such the case in my life thus far. Where are you magic business person..I am out here waiting for you!! Actually, ”they” may have already appeared! :)
On another subject..I have not forgotten the print drawing (see “Appreciations post”)…the full moon is fast approaching. I have a special surprise in mind because our spring show went very well..and I am thankful! Also, there is something about this sunflower piece, and if someone figures it out there is a gift for them..separate from the drawing!
Well, I said I would be brief..so I leave you now, but only for a short spell this time. See you here and on my facebook pages (my facebook art page link is in the right margin)..on the full moon to announce the name drawn. Until then..
Look for me in the face of a flower..you’ll find me there.
Good and creative energies to all!

Good Afternoon Dearest Gypsy-Heart!
I was so happy to see that you had posted!
Beautiful piece, dear friend! I LOVE sunflowers – they always look as though they’re SMILING:)
So glad to hear things are moving, changing, and growing with you.
Hey listen, I also started making my own You Tubes – it’s SOOOOO much fun, you’re gonna love it! My readers have all said it’s like opening the fourth wall, allowing them to actually SEE me. Let me know when you get your account set up.
Have a wonderful day!
X ya!
These sunflowers and the beautiful flowers you painted on your small paintings blog are spectacular. You seem to have refined your ability lately to capture that elusive essence in them that is only sensed when in person. What did you call it, oh yes, “magic” indeed. :)
And the symbolism of these mini-suns and the glass that lets the light shine through is so … extensive … it becomes too much for me to keep all in my head at one time. I wish Vincent Van Gogh was still here to say what he thought of your sunflowers – for surely he would show you his and say, “Your’s are evocative in a much lighter, brighter way.”
I hope your wished for business person/manager materializes.
Love your Sunflowers in the Jar. This does capture the magic of summer. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Take it all a bit at a time and it will all come together. Love and peace to you.
beautiful sunflowers in a jar! Thanks for sharing the meaning of sunflowers too.
I’ve been looking at your other flower paintings… and the other sunflowers in particular. I do love their big sunny blossums! Your style as evolved over the past three or so years – the first sunflowers I noticed were on
Six Paintings in Process
…the upper rightmost one – which is painted so “raw” in a brilliant splash of color, it is almost abstract.
Looking to a year later, you have one of your thematic crows sharing a huge bold flower – I love this painting! It has that playful off-kilter whimsical element that you paint from time to time – that I think it’s the “real you”
Song of Light
And spaced between these two – chronologically is the more formal, more dramatic
Sunflowers…crazed with the love of light. … that makes a vase of sunflowers the centerpiece of the work even though they are way off on one side of the painting.
…and then I noticed something rather odd… the flowers in “Sunflowers…crazed with the love of light” are arranged exactly the SAME way as the flowers in your featured “Sunflowers in a Jar”. So tell me? Did you paint this one from the earlier one? If you did, it’s truly amazing how you changed the formal, spotlight work into one of carefree, bright and cheeriness.
It’s been such a long time since i have gazed on your paintings and musings; that it was a rare treat for me to look in on you today. I know this is a post from months ago; however the sunflowers “spoke” to me, here in the fall harvest month of October. So I clicked to see the large photo/painting of these wonderful sunflowers. Not sure if anyone else noticed the “hidden heart” in the face of the foremost bloom laying on the table; but it made me smile to see it. It is such a wonderful little ‘trick’ of light and sensory ‘e’ motion to look for in most of your paintings.
I have been very ill this year and let it suffice to say you touched my ‘heart’ with yours at the very moment I spotted that tiny red design in the face of that gorgeous bloom. Let it be known to all who peruse your art; that the message of your images continue to surprise long after the work is done and hung in a gallery or on someone’s wall in their home or office. May your work on the art & house go well, Blessed Be ~ Talula
